^This. I just finished watching this series and all I can say (apart from mentioning that my life has now officially lost it’s meaning) is AWESOME. Reasons why you should watch Avatar: the Last Airbender: proactive, complex, and important lady characters; not a single white character to be found (so eat it, The Last Racebender); sensitive and intelligent examinations of the ramifactions of genocide, abuse and neglect, and war; a coherent, defined, and deeply complex narrative which among other things explores personal loss, the saving power of love and also the pain in unreturned love, faith, sacrifice and redemption, the significance of an individual standing up against injustice, family (what you’re born into and what you make), friendship, vengeance and forgiveness, and maybe that sounds like a bunch of meaningless buzzwords to you, but Avatar: the Last Airbender actually DOES things with these ideas. Perhaps the greatest thing I can say for ATLA is that this is a narrative which cares, which always, always cares, and its passion and its integrity are evident throughout. Also: Aang!!! MY FOREVER GUY. Also: it’s HILARIOUS AS FUCK. Also: omggggg, the music is so great. So much research and thought went into this show, and you can tell, and it’s marvelous, and I love it. THIS IS THE #1 NARRATIVE OF MY HEART.

I’ve reblogged this a thousand times to spread the Avatar love, but I need to reblog it again because of that comment. And in all seriousness, the way a ~true 90’s kid!!11!!~ feels about Harry Potter is the way I feel about Avatar. I’ve actually cared about A:TLA for longer than I’ve cared about Harry Potter, having started watching Avatar right before my eighth birthday when it first aired on Nick. And if it was enjoyable to me at the age of eight and even more enjoyable on so many new levels now, you know Avatar’s doing something right. And some of those things that Avatar’s doing right would be:
- having creators who care enough about their show to do thorough research on Eastern culture and philosophies, which Avatar is influenced heavily by.
- a fantastically made universe and fantasy powers (bending).
- beautiful and realistically written and developed characters.
- having moments that make you want to laugh your ass off, then curl into a ball and cry, then reach out and hug each and every character, etc.
- having ome extra material that have the same feel as Avatar and show you more of the Avatar world and the creation of Avatar. (i.e. The Lost Adventures, the artbook, the fantastic documentary that came with the Season 1 Limited Edition box set and is available on Youtube)
- being interesting and exciting for kids to watch, and take on a whole deeper, more emotional, more meaningful meaning to the older demographic.
- And more that I cannot even begin to tell you.
I honestly pity all of my friends who think my obsession with this amazing show is the strangest thing on the planet and dismiss it as “just a kids’ show,” because they’re definitely missing out.
TL;DR, Avatar: The Last Airbender means a lot to me and is a series that you ALL should watch to enhance your life x1000.

It’s been a year. I think this entire time I’ve been aware of that, I’ve been fighting anything I could feel about it. Because the thing is I didn’t want to care. But
i got to a place where i just had to admit to myself that a part of me, however small and distant, does miss you. i think admitting it was the important thing to do.
i don’t know. i guess i could be feeling so much, yet so little.
i guess, i just wish i knew how you feel. felt. why. how…
all those questions that were never answered.
the closure i never got.

it kind of upsets me that when you look on google for libbylace or yeahitsangus, our pictures pop up.
but… i think a part of me deep down is somehow happy with it. relieved? satisfied?
because at least it’s proof that we were together. that we were happy.
and though it was never meant to last. it’s our footprint.
